Apple revealed ios 14: The features you need to know about

Apple in June 2020, release ios14 the next version of its iPhone operating system. Which is set to release this fall. iOS 14 is one of Apple’s biggest iOS updates to date. The new features revealed at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference. The fundamentals are the same. But added some features like folders for arranging your apps. Widgets for quick information. And personalized experience powered by on-device intelligence.

What’s brand new in iOS 14?… Here’s a look at some of the coolest features coming to iOS 14:

App Library

The iPhone home screen has been a grid of apps that go on for pages and pages. That’s continuing to change. Apple announced a new feature called “App Library”. It organises all your apps in one simple and easy to navigate view. Apps arrange into various categories like Social, Productivity, and Entertainment. App Library allows users to hide apps on their home screen. It’s an easy way to hide your app pages. There’s a search bar at the top. Apple is using on-device intelligence to group together suggested apps and most-used apps. There’s even a dedicated Apple Arcade folder. And another folder is for your recently downloaded apps.

Widgets

Widgets are coming to iOS too. The new widgets present timely information. It can attach in different sizes on any Home Screen page. These widgets can resize. You can also add them to your home screen. And these will take place of your apps. It will allow you to customize how your phone looks. And access certain functions, like sending messages with your WhatsApp’s widget. Users can create a Smart Stack of widgets. There’s a Widget Library to view all your widgets and apps. You can swipe through these widgets. It changes based on the time of day and your usual activity. There is also something new called Smart Stack whereby users can create a stack of widgets. That use to give you the right widget based on time, location and activity. You’ll be able to swipe through the Smart Stack to see different useful widgets.

Picture-in-Picture

Apple brings a new functionality called picture-in-picture. If you’re watching a You-tube video on your iPhone. But you need to switch to a Facebook app. You can do this by using Apple’s new picture-in-picture mode. It means you don’t need to hit the pause button. It allows you to keep watching a video at the same time as using other apps. you’ll see a floating screen over your main screen. You can resize it or drag it around and control video playback.

Siri

Siri is also redesigned. Siri is far more useful voice assistant than it has been before. The new version of Siri won’t take up your whole screen. Now Siri looks like a small bubble at the bottom of the screen. Siri will also provide more accurate translations. It can send audio messages too. Ask it a question, and you’ll see a pop-up notification at the top of the screen with the answer. It can access information from across the web. This all looks like it’ll make Siri so relaxing to use on your iPhone.

Translate App

Apple launched a new Translate app on iOS 14. Offering a translation of voice and text among 11 different languages. An on-device mode maintains text and voice translations private. If you turn your iPhone into landscape view. This app will turn on Conversation mode. Which offers a side-by-side view that makes it easier to see the translation.

Messages

Messages are also getting new features in iOS 14. You’ll be able to pin important conversations to the top of the Message app. There are also new Memoji accessories, including a face mask accessory option. New Memoji designs to choose from. It includes 20 new hair and headwear styles and also more face coverings and age options. There are special Memoji stickers too a hug, a fistbump, and blush. For group messages, you’ll see images of everyone in a group at the top of the screen. You can also type someone’s name to “mention” someone.

Maps

Apple has several new features planned for Maps. Maps are easier than ever to navigate and explore with new cycling directions. And electric vehicle routing, and curated Guides. Guides are a great way to discover new restaurants, find popular attractions. you’ll be able to get cycling-specific directions that will alert you to bike lanes and paths. Your directions will let you know if you’re travelling down to busy roads. And you’ll also get a glance at the elevation on your route to warn you if there are some steep hills ahead. If you’ve got an electric vehicle. Maps will add an EV routing feature that tracks the current charge of your vehicle. Your map will then display charging stations along your route.

Home App

Apple is redefining the iOS home screen. The Home app is getting new features like “Adaptive Lighting”. which allows for compatible smart lights to adjust colour temperature. And facial recognition for HomeKit security cameras. also new automation suggestions. And expanded controls in Control Center for rapid access to accessories and scenes.

App Clips

Apple is also bringing a new “App Clip” feature. It is a small part of an app experience designed to discover the moment it needs. These are speedy, card-based snippets of apps that let you access small parts of apps. Apple is launching a new QR-code format that operates both visual codes and NFC to access App Clips.

CarPlay & CarKeys

If your car supports Apple’s CarPlay service, you will able to tap your phone to the door of the car. Apple says there car keys feature is more secure than physical keys. You can also share your car keys via iMessage. Thanks to the Secure Enclave embedded in Cupertino’s handsets. And set restricted driver profiles, which can limit items like acceleration, top speed. The first car to keep up with this feature will be the 2021 BMW 5 Series. And it will likely take some other vehicles to support it.

Privacy

iOS 14 includes more control over privacy and data. There’s a new recording indicator. That alerts you whenever an app is being used. Along with detailed privacy information inside the App Store. You can upgrade older accounts to Sign In with Apple. And share only an approximate location to better protection and privacy.

Safari

Safari will offer a Privacy Report on iOS 14. So users can see which cross-site trackers have blocked. And also password monitoring to help users detect saved passwords. Built-in translation for entire webpages is also added.

Health App

The Health app will track, how much sleep you will get every night. And set your sleep schedules. It will also tell you how your listening volume preferences might harm your hearing. A new Checklist menu makes it easier to manage your data. While new metrics for mobility, medical records, symptoms. And ECG allows you to establish a more complete understanding of your health.

When Can You Get iOS 14? Apple will present a public beta of iOS 14 in July. And the official update will arrive in the fall. Over the period, Apple launches new iPhones in September.
